Dehradun, Uttarakhand – Advocates across Kumaon got enraged after a bench of Uttarakhand High Court gave a verbal order to send IDPL to Rishikesh. Advocates are expressing their opposition to the High Court bench shifting in different ways.In the meeting held on Friday on the call of the High Court Bar Association, the advocates have opposed the initiative of shifting the High Court bench. It was decided that another meeting would be held in the Bar Auditorium on Monday.

Uttarakhand High Court issued an order rejecting the shifting of the court to Gaulapar. Now the High Court will not be shifted to Gaulapar but somewhere else. Opinion was sought from the litigants including advocates in this matter. A portal will be created to give opinions. At the same time, their opinion will also be sought by giving advertisements in newspapers. A committee was formed to select the city and place. Asked to suggest a place where courts and residences of fifty judges along with 7000 advocate chambers and medical and other facilities could be available.The division bench of Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal has asked the government to give a report on the directorates established in the mountains and the officers of how many departments have set up camp offices in Dehradun.

Uttarakhand High Court has said that it is necessary to shift the High Court from Nainital considering the larger public interest. The court has asked the Chief Secretary of the state to suggest a suitable location for the High Court within a month.In the meeting of Haldwani Bar Association held on Friday, there was strong opposition to the shifting of the High Court bench from Nainital to Rishikesh. Speakers said that if it is necessary to shift the High Court somewhere else, then it should be shifted to a suitable place in Nainital district itself.
