Miscreants set a book store on fire in Jalandhar district of Punjab. During this the accused himself became the victim of the accident. Two miscreants were scorched due to the fire. One of them has died. The matter is of Adampur area.
Three miscreants set a book depot on fire by spraying petrol in Adampur area of Punjab. Two of the three miscreants came under fire and the third escaped from the spot. One miscreant, who came under fire, died of burns while the other has been taken into custody by the police.
The deceased has been identified as Pradeep, resident of Basti Bawa Khel area and Jhulse Jitendra resident of Basti Bawa Khel. Jitendra’s condition remains critical. Seriously scorched Jitendra has been admitted to Jalandhar Civil Hospital. One of the accused is absconding, who has been identified as Simranjit. It is suspected that the fire was deliberately set in the shop.
ASP Adampur Ajay Gandhi told that this incident happened around 2 o’clock in the night. Three miscreants had come from Jalandhar City to set fire to Krishna Book Depot in Adampur. The youths broke the shutter and put petrol in it and set it on fire.
Gandhi said that in the preliminary investigation, it has come to the fore that the shop owner was having a dispute with the tenant. ASP Gandhi told that Harjinder Singh’s grandfather had rented the shop 60 years ago from Ajit Singh resident of Jalandhar. Now Ajit Singh wanted to get it vacated at the shop near Harjinder Singh.
Harjinder Singh has given a statement that three miscreants Pradeep Kumar, Jitendra and Simarjeet came to the shop at two o’clock in the night with the intention of killing him and broke the shutter of the shop and set it on fire by sprinkling petrol. In this, Pradeep Kumar died of burns due to fire.
Adampur Police has registered a case against the three accused under the section of attempt to murder. ASP Gandhi says that the police will interrogate the accused Jitendra. If Ajit Singh’s name comes up after Jitendra’s statement, then a case will be registered against him too.
