Rishikesh, 21 Feb 2024: Governor General Gurmeet Singh arrived at the fourth convocation ceremony at Shri Dev Suman University Rishikesh campus. The Governor awarded degrees to the students in the convocation ceremony.
The fourth convocation ceremony was organized today at the Pt. Lalit Mohan Sharma campus of Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University. Chancellor and Governor of the University, Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) attended the program as the chief guest.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will attend as the special guest and Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat will attend as the special guest. Degrees will be awarded to 19,849 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the convocation ceremony. 69 students will be given gold medals. Students securing the highest marks in the Faculty of Science, Arts and Commerce will be awarded Sridev Suman Gold Medal.
Captain Shoorveer Singh Panwar Gold Medal will be awarded to the students who obtain the highest marks in the three postgraduate subjects – History, Anthropology and Painting. The convocation ceremony will be held in the newly constructed Swami Vivekananda Auditorium in the university campus. The chief guest will inaugurate the auditorium built at a cost of about Rs 2.5 crore. After that the program will be organized in the auditorium. Infrastructure facilities are being developed
The Vice Chancellor said that infrastructural facilities are being developed in the university campus Rishikesh and the university headquarters. Under which the construction work of academic block, examination hall, type 5 building, guest house is in progress in Rishikesh campus. Renovation work of the Faculty of Science and Arts has started. Work on the first floor of auditorium and commerce is also about to begin.
Emphasis on transparency and accountability
Said, employment oriented professional courses like BBA, BCA, BSc (Computer Science) and MSc Microbiology etc. have been formally started in the university. Also, BCA course has been started in the university headquarters after a decade. To bring transparency and ensure accountability in the academic and administrative work of the university, Shri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University has prepared an ERP portal and digitized all the work.
Patent cell has been established
Said, Center of Excellence in Indian Knowledge Tradition has also been established by the University in Rishikesh campus. In which through various research projects, conferences, faculty development programs, special lectures, in-depth discussion of topics related to Indian knowledge tradition and efforts are being made to restore traditional knowledge and ideals to the society. Taking another initiative in the field of innovation, the University has established a Patent Cell. Under which MoU has also been signed with Ucast Uttarakhand.
