SP MLA Irfan Solanki convicted to 7 years in an arson case

Kanpur: Legal action has been launched against SP MLA Irfan Solanki of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. On Friday, the MPMLA court issued its ruling in the Jajmau arson case. The court condemned five suspects, including Irfan Solanki, to seven years in prison. In addition, 30 thousand punishment has been issued. Irfan was able to communicate via video conferencing from Maharajganj jail.

Nazir Fatima, who resides in the Defense Colony near the Jajmau Police Station, has a plot. Nazir Fatima’s family lives on the land in a cabin with thatch. Nazir Fatima had claimed that the SP MLA and his brother intended to occupy the plot. On November 7, 2022 (Monday), he went to a wedding ceremony with his family. Meanwhile, the MLA and his brother lit the cabin on fire. The police filed a complaint under IPC sections 147, 327, 427, 386, 504, 436, 506, and 120.

On June 3, the court condemned him under sections 336, 427, 147, 504, and 323 of the IPC. He was also acquitted of Sections 386, 149, and 120B. The court convicted Irfan Solanki, his brother Rizwan Solanki, Shaukat Pehelwan, Sharif, and Israel Aate Wala and sentenced them to seven years in prison. SP MLA Irfan Solanki would also lose his assembly membership. In the Jajmau arson case, IPC Section 436 provides for a sentence of 8 to 10 years. If he had been sentenced to two years, his assembly membership might have been salvaged. For the time being, he will be barred from serving on the assembly.
