Lord Narasimha (Bhagwan Narsingh), the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Jayanti is on Thursday [May 25, 2021]. Lord Narasimha took this incarnation to kill Hiranyakashyap to protect his devotee Prahlada on the Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha of the month of Vaishakh. Lord Narasimha appeared by tearing the pillar to kill the demon king Hiranyakashyapa and he kept half the form of a male and half of a lion, so he was called Narasimha.Although Lord Narasimha has many temples, but the temple located in Joshimath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is very special. There is a recognition about this temple, which is directly related to the disaster.
A few months ago the devastation in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district killed many people. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha in Joshimath of this district. Being one of the Sapta Badri, this temple is also called Narsingh Badri. It is believed that Saint Shri Badrinath lived in this temple during winter.
Another special thing about this temple is that the idol of Lord Narasimha installed here is getting smaller every day. Murthy’s left wrist is thin and is only getting thinner with each passing day. According to beliefs, on the day the wrist will be completely lowered and separated from the statue, on that day the path leading to Badrinath will be closed forever. It is also said that the Holocaust will come on this day and this path will be blocked due to landslides.
