As a token of appreciation of his contributions and services to the domains of his expertise, Dr. Murugesan was accorded with several honors and awards and his biography was published in leading annals across the world, including in the 9th edition of Marquis Who’s Who in the World (1988). The latest honor was the “Best Senior Engineer Award” presented by the Institution of Engineers (India) during the 49th Engineers Day function at the Tamilnadu State Centre on September 15, 2016.

In recognition of his research efforts and services as Peer Reviewer to the research community, Dr. R. Murugesan has been inducted as the Peer Reviewer for Journals of international repute including Inderscience (Japan), Nano-Micro Letters of Thomson Reuters (China) and Organic Letters of Elsevier (Netherlands).

In recognition of his contributions to the betterment of profession and to our societal good, Dr. R. Murugesan was appointed as LinkedIn Global Goodwill Ambassador.

Dr. R. Murugesan made significant contributions to professional bodies benefiting the membership fraternity, as a Life Fellow and Senior Member of several international professional organizations. He has been serving on the board of leading professional bodies including the Institution of Engineers (India), International Society of Automation (USA) and the Indian Institution of Plant Engineers and conducted scores of thematic conventions and national seminars implementing programs relating to various engineering disciplines and in interdisciplinary domains benefiting membership fraternity of respective organizations, industry, academia and our society. He served as the Honorary Secretary of the Institution of Engineers (India), Tamilnadu State Centre, as the Secretary and President of International Society of Automation (USA) SOIND Section and Dist14 Committee Chairman and currently, Dr. Murugesan is serving as the National Vice President-HQ of the Indian Institution of Plant Engineers.

If we talk about his childhood, he was born to poor parents K. G. Ramalingam and R. Kamalammal on October 15, 1946 in Kadathur, Dharmapuri district in Tamilnadu, India. , he worked as a child laborer in farms and in menial jobs complementing to the survival of his family. Though very passionate to attend school and play with his age group, due to his poverty and the compulsion to work as a child laborer, he attended elementary school only for 4 years until the age of 16 years.

WITH SO MANY ACCOLADES AND SO MANY HONORS, DR. R. MURUGESAN’s is an institution of “Knowledge”. His 40 years of experience not only upgraded various organizations but he has been very passionate in teaching roles and groomed hundreds of young professionals, many of them are very well placed in top organizations.
