Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu also asked the Urban Development Department to prepare a model action plan for solid waste management system for effective garbage collection in the entire state within 15 days. He stressed that the entire state should be made dustbin free within the next 15 days.
Now the government will keep an eye on people throwing garbage everywhere in the state through CCTV cameras. Also, those who send photographs or videos of those throwing garbage will be given 50 percent of the challan amount as reward. Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu instructed Urban Development to include it in the plan.
He also asked the department to prepare a model action plan for solid waste management system for effective garbage collection in the entire state within 15 days. He stressed that the entire state should be made dustbin free within the next 15 days. He said that there will be no shortage of budget for this scheme.
The Chief Secretary was reviewing the progress of works under solid waste management in the state at the Secretariat on Tuesday. He said that to achieve the target of 100 percent disposal of solid waste, work should be done towards door to door waste collection, source segregation and dustbin free city. He directed to make an ideal plan to develop a world class solid waste management system in the state.
